Safe, But Not Always – Part One

There is a phrase we use so often in friendship. “You are my safe space.”
It sounds beautiful and I use it too, but lately I have been thinking about the concept of a “safe space.”

It suddenly hit me that we are actually not always safe. Not because we are “bad people”, but because we are human beings. We make mistakes and bad decisions. We go through seasons that temporarily change us. Hard experiences that blur our clarity. Even the most loving person can go through something that affects how they see things and how they respond.

These people that were safe for you in one season may not be, in another. It does not change who they are (holistically). It just means one needs discernment for who they are right now.

Question:
Where do you need more discernment about who someone is right now?
