I Thought I Was Only Writing a Book.
But here we are.
When I look back, I realise I had often preferred texts over calls. Books over movies. Emails over meetings. The way my mind works, it likes to pause and process. So, words have always been special to me. I just never called it writing.
I am not really a small talker either, I enjoy deep conversations, honesty, and the kind of interactions that help people see things more clearly.
I am the ‘writer’ and creative behind the pen name Fola Keona.
Through my books, sessions and products, I explore friendships, growth, changes, and experiences that shape who we become.
This is our corner.
How the Name Found Me
The name, Fola Keona is my mother’s. Her name was Folake Onabolu. Apparently, in an Asian culture, Keona actually means God’s gracious gift which is so fitting because this woman truly was a gift.
Not just to her family but to her friends, colleagues, community and perhaps everyone she met.
She had a way of making people feel seen and loved. She moved through life with such purpose and vitality.
It is quite funny to think back now but when she was still here, anytime someone said we looked alike, I would roll my eyes and laugh it off. Now, it is one of the things I love hearing the most.
My hope is that this name honors the energetic life she lived.
